My Love Affair With Mountain Rose Herbs!

DISCLAIMER:

*Okay, so let me go ahead and put out that beautiful, little disclaimer: I am NOT a doctor, I do NOT have any degree in medicine. Please do not use anything I say as actual medical advice. I am JUST a mama that has discovered some wonderful things that work fantastically for us along the way so I cannot be held responsible for anything you try that doesn't work well for you.. Also, everyone's body is different and you must make those discoveries for yourself. *

So my love affair with essential oils began a few years ago when I was pregnant and I was looking for alternatives to regular medicines for my family and myself in the future (since there are a number of them that you cannot use during pregnancy. There are a lot of things I will chat about regarding oils over time, but I'd like to begin with my favorite go to mix...also known as Four Thieves.

First of all, there are companies such as Young Living and DoTerra and so on out there have blends already made for you or folks that sell oils for them. I personally did a lot of research on many companies and I while I found no fault with either company, I do personally tend to find smaller companies that have incredible quality rather than companies that I know produce in huge amounts for the masses (regardless of quality). So I found Mountain Rose Herbs and couldn't be happier with them and the oils and products I receive from them. The oils are rich and thick and organic and I adore them. They do not people selling for them like the other companies, so I am not one of those people...I just really love their oils and products and will shout from the rooftops when I do love something.

WHAT IS THE FOUR THIEVES BLEND EXACTLY?

Supposedly back in the 15th century when the plague was at it's peak, a band of grave robbers formed a blend of herbs and oils and put it on themselves so they wouldn't contract the plague off of the bodies they were robbing. The story goes, they were caught, thrown in prison, but were given a lesser sentence if they spilled the beans on their little concoction....and so they did. The following blend (via the Mountain Rose Herb blog) is what we have today from it:

Ingredients:
Mix it all in a little, glass, amber bottle (the dark amber keeps the sunlight from ruining the oils).

THE PROOF IS IN THE PUDDING...OR IN THE STUDIES ANYWAY:

In 1997, Weber State University actually did a study on the Four Thieves Blend and found that it DOES, in fact, have a 99.96% kill rate on airborne bacteria after only 10 minutes of exposure!!!! Seriously! Look it up!

So not only does it kill the yucky germs (and quickly) by way of a diffuser, but here are some other amazing ways of using it:

- Put one drop (ONLY ONE) in a large glass of water and down it when you feel something coming on.

- Add it in a small spray bottle to mix as a hand sanitizer or a large one for your household cleaner.

- Used to relieve chest congestion...and so much more.

I personally dilute it in a carrier oil (Carrier Oil is like Sweet Almond Oil or Jojoba Oil) and put it in small rollers and we use it on the bottoms of our feet (which soak up the goodness of it well) at night or if we know we have been around someone sick.

PLEASE check the dilution chart first before making your own. I'm quite comfortable with many oils now and know how to dilute them properly, but you should treat oils like you would medicine in the sense that they can be amazing for you, but you're not rubbing honey on yourself...you are using something for medicinal purposes and it should be treated accordingly.

I'll be chatting more about diffusers, oils and other things at other times, but for now I encourage you to head over to Mountain Rose Herbs and take a look at the incredible oils and products they have. They truly have everything you need to get started!
