Most parents are using their cameras indoors a lot, especially with babies and most use the "auto"mode because you just point and click. One thing you can change up is the light you're using. Turn the flash off and get near windows with your baby or child. The natural tone and the soft light make a world of difference from that of the flash! Try it out! I think you'll notice no red eyes too!!!
